POET and storyteller Mick Gowar is pictured with Year Nine students at Cedars Upper School where he performed in the Raven Theatre and ran a poetry writing workshop.
Mick is a writer, poet, performer and teacher who has written or edited more than 100 books for children and young people since 1980, and visited schools, libraries, colleges and festivals throughout the UK and abroad to give readings, performances and lead writing workshops.
He has also worked with many leading UK orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia 21, and the Britten Sinfonia.
He has had songs and music theatre pieces performed at the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican and in San Francisco, and is at present a part-time lecturer in creative writing and contextual studies at the Cambridge School of Art.
Mick's performance included readings of his poetry and the gripping folk tale of Yallery Brown.
Cedars spoksewoman Marie Suter said: "The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for students to meet a poet and storyteller first hand and to spend some time developing their creative writing skills to the background of Stravinsky music and using weird and wonderful sound effects."
