STAFF and 40 students from Cedars Upper School flew out to Borneo yesterday (Monday) for a month-long expedition that will challenge the teenagers and test their abilities to work as a team.
The acclimatisation phase will introduce the group to their new surroundings, giving them a chance to take in some of the spectacular sights Borneo has to offer, including the Niah Caves and Lambir Hills.
The main trek phase will incorporate jungle trekking, sleeping in hammocks, and climbing Mount Kinabalu. At 4,095m high, it's the tallest mountain in Malaysia and the fourth highest in South-East Asia.
The project phase will see the students embark on a week of strenuous construction work, living and working in a village, and taking on a project to benefit the villagers.
The trip will end with well-deserved rest and relaxation giving the group a chance to sample the culture and lifestyle in Borneo.
