Mayor praises Vandyke's talented young artists

VANDYKE Upper School's annual art and design exhibition was one of the highlights of the summer term for many.
The exhibition provided the many talented GCSE, BTEC and A level students with the perfect opportunity to display their exam pieces to family and friends as well as local dignitaries, including Leighton’s Mayor and Mayoress, who praised the “tremendous talent and so much hard work on show”.
Aly Kirby, Team Leader of Art, said: “The standard is always high and this year proved no exception – many of our students will no doubt emulate the success of previous years and secure places on some of the UK's top Foundation courses.”
There was a wide range of work on display including, painting, drawing, textiles, sculpture, digital media, ceramics, printmaking and multi-media.
Mrs Kirby said the students had worked with en energy “The exhibition aims to celebrate the success of the Vandyke students and to congratulate those who will make their way to London and local colleges to study art and design at a higher level.”
