Crew chief on B52s
A FORMER Leighton man who left town to live in America has retired from the United States Air Force at the rank of master sergeant.
Robert Iadarola, whose parents Bob and Heather still live in Leighton, served with the Strategic Air Command as a crew chief on B52 Stratofortress before transferring to MH-53 Pavelow helicopters and had been assigned to the Special Operations Group as a crew chief /engineer.
He has been stationed in the continental USA, Korea and Japan and received two air force commendations medals for outstanding work at SAC and SOG.He has also worked on the latest CV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor plane.
Robert has now taken up a position at Bell Helicopters' head office in Fort Worth, Texas, where he lives with his wife Iara and their daughters Sara and Rachel.
He attending Vandyke Upper and Gilbert Inglefield Middle Schools and was a member of the local air cadets for a while before enlisting in the USAF at 18.
