Shelley loses 3 stone
A LINSLADE women who attends Weight Watchers classes in Wing will be the envy of members nationwide as she appears in the monthly Weight Watchers Magazine.

Alison McFarlane, 37 from Linslade, attends Wednesday night classes at the Cottesloe School in Wing. She has shed three stone, and managed to keep the weight off for over a year.

Alison turned to weight watchers when she was unable to get rid of 'baby weight' she had put on during pregnancy, and members of her toddler group were shifting the unwanted pounds faster than she was.

She said: "After I had my baby I just thought, 'why am I not losing weight as much as everyone else'? So I joined Weight Watchers."

Having lost so much weight she now feels the benefits. "I feel like a different person. I'm back to the old me, before I got pregnant" she said.

Asked whether she found it difficult, Alison said: "It was not too bad, it was just a big wakeup call for me. There is so much food in the shops that you can buy, that you don't need. Not only is it important to keep an eye on what you eat, but the size of your portions is just as important."

She said that equally as important as keeping an eye on your diet, was leading an active life: "I don't have a strict exercise routine at the moment, I'm a stay at home mum but I have an active lifestyle, I do the things that I would do normally with a bit more vigour; if I go into down I don't just meander. I also do plenty of walking."

Her instructor, Shelley Jardine said: "Alison's enthusiasm and motivation has really helped other members. Losing weight is one thing, but keeping it off and maintaining your goal os often a lot harder than the initial losing. Alison is one of the most positive people I've ever met and that really rubs off on my other members."

Shelley's Weight Watchers session take place at Cottesloe High School every Wednesday evening, and she will be opening a new weekly class at Brooklands Middle School today, Tuesday September 2. For more information call Shelley on (01525) 381878.
