WHAT a superb haul of medals Great Britain brought home from the Olympic Games!
All the excitement and brilliant performances from Bejing have really boosted interest in all kinds of sports and open air challenges – so all the more reason to make the most of our next Give it a Go booklet, which will be issued free with the Leighton Buzzard Observer towards the end of September.
Give It a Go! edition 3 is on its way, giving the people of Leighton Buzzard the chance to try a new sport or activity completely free of charge.
Every three months, the booklet can be found inside each copy of the LBO, with the next edition due out on September 23.
The Give it a Go! booklet includes loads of information about local sports clubs and societies, as well as vouchers giving people the opportunity to try out these new activities free of charge. For local clubs and organizations, it is the perfect opportunity to attract more participants as well as helping to raise their profile within the local community.
All clubs need do to get involved is either; open up an already existing session to allow new participants of any ability to attend or, put on an extra beginners' session.
The activity then gets advertised through the Give It a Go! booklet along with some background information about the club, and a voucher for people to cut out and take along to try the session free.
Leighton Buzzard Canoe Club got involved in the first edition of the booklet and had 18 people come forward to give canoeing a go, many of whom have now signed up to a beginner's canoe course to enable them to become a club member.

All kinds of local activities are featured in our magazine – a range of sports of course, but many other hobbies and interesting things to do. There's no excuse for anybody to say that that there's nothing to do in Leighton!
