Bad weather washes out plans.
Leighton-Linslade residents planning to go to Houghton Regis Medieval Fayre will be disappointed to learn that South Bedfordshire District Council has been left with no choice but to cancel tomorrow's (Saturday) fayre.

Following a recent inspection of The Green, Houghton Regis together with a meeting with the Town Council's senior grounds man, it has been decided to cancel.

Apart from the Health and Safety implications associated with holding the event in these conditions, the advice from the grounds man was that due to the amount of water already laying on the surface together with the anticipated rain expected during the next 24-36 hours there would be serious damage caused to The Green by the vehicles and the horses.

A spokesperson for South Beds said: "We are looking at holding a smaller community event on The Green towards the end of this month in association with existing planned events and these will be published as soon as arrangements have been confirmed."
