Leighton's choir stand in for holidays.
All Saints' Church choir from Leighton sang the services at Chichester Cathedral last weekend during the cathedral's 900th anniversary celebrations.

The Leighton Buzzard choir stood in for the cathedral choir while they were on holiday, and sang the full schedule of services for the weekend. This consisted of Choral Evensong on Saturday afternoon, and three services on Sunday – Matins, Sung Eucharist and Choral Evensong.

All Saints' Director of Music John Wearmouth chose a demanding programme of music, including classics by Stanford and Elgar, and a modern setting of the canticles by contemporary Northampton composer Robert Walker.

Choir member Alan Perrott commented: "It was hard work, especially for the younger members of the choir – some of whom are only nine or ten years old – but it was a wonderful opportunity to sing in one of country's most magnificent cathedrals".

The choir currently has some vacancies, particularly for trebles and basses, and anyone who is interested in finding out more is encouraged to enquire at the church office.
