THE Leighton Buzzard Drama Group have been busy with final rehearsals for their pantomime Sleeping Beauty, which opens on January 9, almost 217 years to the day from when the original tale was first premiered in St Petersburg, and runs for three weeks.
We all know the story, a beautiful baby princess has a spell cast over her by the wicked witch which threatens her life on her 18th birthday, but the good fairy turns this spell to a 100 years sleep.
The princess is woken by a handsome prince who has overcome all obstacles to find her and yes you have guessed it, they live happily ever after.
As audiences have come to expect from the players this will be another show well worth seeing.
The group have been working on it for about four months and promise a colourful, lively production with a brilliant cast, the best music, dance and comedy.
Chairman, Nigel Carnell, said: “Everyone knows, the best fairytales form the basis of the best pantomimes and Sleeping Beauty is no different.
“Don’t miss out, come and enjoy the fun on a cold January evening, it will warm your heart. Book now to avoid disappointment.”
Performances are at the Leighton Buzzard Theatre on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 7.15pm and Saturdays at 11am and 2.30pm.
